Wortegemsen

Wortegemsen originated by accident from a local festive tradition. Mostly housewives experimented with making a drink based on fresh lemon juice that was served annually at the ‘Wortegemsen Feesten’.

Wortegemsen

After some time, Albert Kint brought these recipes together in d’Oude Stokerij and he professionalised production. And so the brand Wortegemsen was born.

The genever tradition and, as a result, the festivities eventually became so popular that the time had come to further commercialise this genever.

In 2009 Filliers Distillery saw an opportunity to add this product to its portfolio. The fresh lemon pulp and the culture around the product continue to have cult status to this day.

Van Hoo

Van Hoo originally comes from the Van Hoorebeke distillery, which, in addition to the first Belgian genever, also introduced the first Belgian vodka.

Sunken Still

It was during the Second World War that the employees of Filliers Distillery hid the copper stills in a side branch of the River Lys so that the enemy would not find them. However, shortly afterwards, during the occupation, they were found and were melted into ammunition.

Sunken Still is an homage to the employees of Filliers Distillery who fought to preserve & safeguard the heart of the distillery.

Goldlys

Filliers Distillery managed to market the first Belgian whisky with Goldlys in 2007. Goldlys literally means “golden river Lys”. That name came about because in certain periods flax was thrown in the river for soaking before it was made into yarn. The golden glimmer over the river that came to existence as a result of this habit was the inspiration of the name Goldlys.

Goldlys

Goldlys Whisky undergoes a unique production process thanks to the double distillation that provides extra purity. It is then put in Bourbon barrels made from American oak that, thanks to their tasteful past, slowly release their wealth to the whisky that has been resting & maturing in it for years. The mild character makes this whisky the perfect daily dram, a tasteful moment to end the day with a small ritual, for example.
